Ok, here’s the long and short of it. I was born and raised in Queens, NY. (Queens is a borough of New York City.) My parents were originally from South Carolina. I have one older brother and one “sister”. My parents divorced when I was 11. A few years later, I moved with my mother to South Carolina when I was 15. I went to high school there (and I had a blast!). I also attended college there as well. I joined the U.S. Navy Reserves to help serve my country and to help pay for my college education. I am a Desert Storm veteran. My mom passed away during my junior year of college. I graduated from Francis Marion University in 1990 with a B.S. in biology/chemistry.
I relocated to the Washington DC/ Maryland area after college and worked at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in their drug testing laboratory. After a while, I realized that my laid back personality and my thin wallet would be better suited for warmer climates and a lower cost of living. I decided to head back South and moved to Durham, North Carolina and worked in the Research Triangle Park area for a couple of years. It was during this time in NC that I became involved with network marketing and joined an mlm company as an independent rep. I was also introduced to the pre-historic gifting programs that were out at that time. This was before the internet, so you can imagine how chaotic that was.
I relocated again back in 1995 to my current location which is the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area. I live in the southwest suburbs about 20 minutes from downtown Atlanta and only 5 minutes south of the international airport. I have worked as a Chemist for an international company for close to 10 years. (Yikes! I never thought I would make it that long!) I have 3 roommates – my brother Tony, my sister/best friend Tina, and her daughter/my goddaughter Mikaelah (named after Dr. Quinn – Medicine Woman). I also have a bunch of pets – one dog named Tiger and 5 cats named Jimmy, Lulu, Mittens, Chubby, and Abigail. (Hey look, I didn’t name them my goddaughter did. LOL) Of course the dog does not like the cats and they in turn love to drive him crazy.
As I previously mentioned, I have been involved in various mlm and gifting programs. Some were semi successful while others crashed and burned. I learned a lot along the way and when the internet came into being, my learning curve seemed to skyrocket. I have finally gotten to a point where I am enjoying my online business opportunities along with the people that I have been blessed to meet along the way.
Why am I involved with online programs? Like many of you, I have some goals that I would like to accomplish, some sooner than others.
First, I want to help my loved ones. For example:
- I want to be able to help send my goddaughter to college when that time comes. (She’s only 11, but boy do those years fly by!)
- I also want to send my cousin to school to get her Master’s degree in Social Work.
- I want to move my long-since-retired Dad from New York back to the South, so we can be located closer.
- I want to help my brother and my sister to start their businesses.
Secondly, once the folks are squared away, I would like to RETIRE EARLY! That way, I can set out to do my third reason.
Thirdly, there are quite a few places that I would like to visit such as:
- The Grand Canyon/Hoover Dam (My ultimate destination! I would love to fly over it in a helicopter.)
- Mt. Rushmore (Want to see it before something happens to it.)
- Niagara Falls (Yeah, yeah, yeah I know I lived in NY but I never got a chance to go, I was a kid then ya’ know!)
- The “West” (I’ve only been as far as Texas)
- Venice, Italy (I want to ride on a gondola in the real setting, not the one in Vegas, LOL)
- Alaska (Gotta’ see those Northern Lights!)
- Hawaii (Do I really need to elaborate on this one?)
There’s a host of others, but I think you get my point. I would love to have the financial freedom to accomplish the above as well as many that weren’t mentioned. I’m excited because I feel as though I am well on my way to that.
What about you? If you are well on your way to financial freedom, I would love to hear about it. If not, then check out some of the programs I am in.
